History has it that the Tooth Relic of Ceylon was taken to various places to protect it from various enemy threats.The main reason for the protection of the Tooth Relic was that the idea that the person holding the Tooth Relic should inherit the kingship of this country was ingrained in the Sri Lankans society. The Tooth Relic was brought to Ceylon in the year   301-328 During the reign of King Kithsiri Meghawarna.
